Jovanny Hector Puga was last seen by friends on the night of February 25th, 2017 in the Milwaukee/Glendale, Wisconsin area. He has had no contact with family or friends since that date.
Jovanny is a Hispanic male, 5’7”-5’9”, and 125-145 pounds. He has black hair in a tight cut and brown eyes. He has a 4” scar inside his right forearm. He has a tattoo of a bull’s head with “OTF” in red on his right wrist and a tattoo of “illmotion” on his left wrist, both pictured below:
Jovanny is originally from Green Bay, Wisconsin. His family reported him missing in March of 2017.
In October of 2018, three people were charged with first-degree reckless homicide in Jovanny’s presumed death: Brandan L. Guyton-Denn, Shawn M. Leitner and Jaleel A. Schultz. Emma B. Brud was charged with harboring or aiding a felon by hiding physical evidence.
According to police, Brandan Guyton-Denn was angry at something Jovanny had done and decided to beat him in retaliation. He asked his girlfriend, Emma Brud, to take Jovanny to a residence in the 4500 block of North 84th Street in Milwaukee, where he and Shawn Leitner lived. Brud’s car was also used to take Jovanny to Lincoln Park in Glendale, Wisconsin.
Once at the park, the three men beat Jovanny, stomping on his face, before forcing him to undress and enter the river. They threatened him to go in the river or they would continue to beat him. Jaleel Schultz and one other threw Jovanny in the river and continued to stop him from getting out of the water under Jovanny gave up on doing so.
The men left Jovanny in the river, went back to Milwaukee, and divided his belongings amongst themselves. Emma Brud disposed of Jovanny’s clothes which were bloodstained.
In December of 2018, Emma Brud pleaded no contest to harboring/aiding a felony and falsifying information as party to a crime and was given a suspended prison sentence and placed on probation for 3 years.
In March of 2019, Shawn Leitner pleaded guilty to first degree reckless homicide, as party to a crime. In April, Brandan Guyton-Denn plead guilty to the same. Both received a prison sentence of 8 years with 7 years of extended supervision after release.
In September of 2019, Jaleel Schultz plead guilty to second degree reckless homicide as party to a crime. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Jovanny has never been found, but is presumed deceased. Foul play is suspected based on the circumstances.
Jovanny was 18 years old when he went missing. He would be 24 years old today.
