Nahida Ahmed Khatib was last seen in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin on October 1st, 1976. Some sources spell her name as "Nahita". We have not been able to clarify which is correct, so we will use both.
Nahida is a white woman, 5’2”-5’3”, and 125 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. She has a scar on her abdomen as well as a scar on her forehead.
She was last seen wearing a green robe and fur slippers.
Nahida was babysitting her two-year-old niece when she went missing. Her niece was found unattended in her playpen. Frozen meat was thawing in the kitchen, food was on the stove, and a half-empty coffee cup was found.
Nahida left behind her purse, keys, clothing, and shoes. The only items missing were her robe and slippers. She has never been heard from again.
Even though she lived in the Wauwatosa area for about 10 years, Nahida was socially isolated and didn’t know many people. She was reportedly afraid of her husband, Fahmi Khatib, and told her neighbors that he wanted to kill her.
She was in the process of a divorce at the time of her disappearance.
A suspicious car was seen in her driveway the day she disappeared and was later linked to one of Fahmi’s relatives. Nahida’s sister says that Nahida would have never opened the door to someone she didn’t know.
After Nahida’s disappearance, Fahmi was left to raise their son and he told their son that his mother had abandoned him. Authorities do not believe that Nahida left of her own accord and she has been described as a devoted parent that would never have abandoned her son.
Nahida’s husband Fahmi died in 2001 and he is still considered the prime and only suspect in Nahida’s case.
While Nahida was declared legally dead 8 years after her disappearance, her case remains unsolved and her family is still looking for answers.
Nahida was 30 years old when she went missing. She would be 76 years old today.
