Robert Joseph Fritz, also known as "Bobby" was last seen on May 14th, 1983. He was playing outside in an empty lot in the neighborhood, about 1/2 block from his home with his siblings in Campbellsport, Wisconsin, between 2:30pm and and 4:30pm. The lot was beside the Mill Pond/Milwaukee River in the area where the Campbellsport Firehouse now stands.
He had told his sister that he was hungry and was going to walk home, but he never arrived and was not heard from again. The toy gun that he had been playing with was later found.
He was last seen wearing a red, blue, and gray shirt, dark blue pants, and brown cowboy boots.
At age five, Robert was 4’0” and 50 pounds. He has blond/strawberry hair, blue eyes, and a red birthmark on his outer left thigh, just above his knee, about the size of a cigarette pack. His birthmark may be larger now and lighter in color. At the time of his disappearance, he had trouble pronouncing the letters T, K, and R.
After his disappearance, an extensive search was made in the community for days. The Sheriff's Department dive team searched the Milwaukee River and the Mill Pond just north of the Mill Pond Dam as well as many other areas. No trace of him was ever found. Based on the searches, police believe it's more likely that Bobby Joe was abducted.
He is also known as Bobby Joe, which is sometimes spelled “Bobbie Joe.”
This is an age-progressed photo of Robert at 42 years old.
He was 5 years old when he went missing. He would now be 45 years old.
