Sofia Khan and her family are from the Chicago, Illinois area and were vacationing on Lake Michigan. The family was kayaking off the shore of Lake Michigan in Holland, WI when she was last seen on June 9th, 2010.
She drifted away from the shore and her father tried to swim out to get her but couldn’t reach her. Strong winds were pushing the kayak out into the lake faster than he could swim. Another man got a canoe and paddled out to rescue Sofia, but found the kayak empty and adrift more than a quarter-mile offshore. Sofia was not wearing a personal flotation device.
There was no sign of Sofia and she has never been heard from again. An extensive search turned up no sign of her.
Sofia is a white female and she was 4’2” and 60 pounds at the time of her disappearance. She has brown hair and brown eyes.
She was last seen wearing a lavender one- piece bathing suit - sometimes reported as a lavender and black or lavender and pink.
Sofia was 9 years old when she went missing. She would be 20 years old today.
